The Andringitra massif – Das Andringitra-Massiv

Andringitra Mountains in south-eastern Madagascar, south of Finarantsoa at the drop to the east coast, are a granite massif. It is home to 2.657 m high Pic Boby, the second highest summit on the island. The climate is the same as in central highland with temperatures that are sometimes likely to drop below zero at night. The breath-taking cliffs are a paradise for every rock climber – most of them undiscovered. As an extra you get stunning views of an amazing although deforested landscape.

Das Andringitra-Massiv im Südosten Madagaskars, südlich von Fianarantsoa an der Kante zur Ostküste gelegen, besteht aus Granit und ist Heimat des Pic Boby, dem mit 2.657 m zweithöchsten Gipfel der Insel. Hier herrscht das kühle Klima des Hochlandes, und die Temperaturen können nachts auch einmal unter die 0° Celsius-Grenze fallen. Die monolithischen Felswände sind ein – noch größtenteils unentdecktes – El Dorado für Kletterer, traumhafte, aber wie immer entwaldete Landschaft inklusive.
